In 1968 three congregations, the Spring Valley Christian, Evangelical United Brethren, and Methodist Churches came together to form Faith United Methodist Church. One of the newly created church’s first priorities was the construction of a building that would be large enough to accommodate the newly merged congregation, which numbered over seven hundred persons. In 1972 that building was completed and consecrated, a beautiful, fully handicapped accessible facility that is in near constant use by the church and community. Besides serving as our worship and education center, we sponsor and host the area Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops, host the annual community Christmas Dinner, serve as a collection point for the Spring Valley Foodshelf, host concerts and other fundraisers, and our building is frequently used for non-profit dinners as well as family gatherings. We believe that our building is the Lord's and that we are merely stewards of it, and we're delighted to see it used to serve our surrounding community in so many ways.
In 2009 Faith United Methodist Church formed a new co-operative parish with the Cherry Grove United Methodist church, a congregation that is also yoked with the United Methodist Church in Fountain, MN. We call ourselves the Maple Leaf Parish, a name suggested by a member of one of our congregations. Together we share two pastors, Mark Rader and Beth Perez. While each congregation has its own facility and worship time, we combine our resources for several ministries and programs.
At Faith Church we offer a complete Church School program, Adult Bible Studies, multiple Women’s Circles, Youth Ministry, Adult and Youth Bell Choirs, Adult and Youth Vocal Choirs, and a blended worship service that utilizes current technologies such as a DLP projector and screen to enhance our worship together.
